Vinyl Tap is a beloved Nashville record shop and bar born from the lifelong dream of Todd Hedrick, a ninth-generation Nashvillian who spent his youth haunting local shops like Tower Records and the Great Escape before years in corporate America finally gave way to something better. Opening its doors in November 2016, the shop is housed in a restored East Nashville building that has lived many lives — from neighborhood grocery to laundromat — and now serves as a warm gathering place for music lovers and locals alike. Vinyl Tap specializes in both new and used vinyl, carrying this week's new releases alongside an ever-growing selection of reissues, and offers a full bar featuring specialty cocktails alongside local and regional craft beers on draft, in bottles, and in cans. But what truly sets Vinyl Tap apart is its soul — it's as much a community hub as a record store, hosting weekly events like staff-curated listening nights, beginner DJ workshops, literary readings, and album release parties. With a rewards program for regulars, its own merch, and a webstore for buying and pre-ordering records, Vinyl Tap has grown into exactly the kind of neighborhood institution Nashville deserves.
